Judith Jones lives with her husband and dogs in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Houston and a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Mary Washington University.

Judith was a dancer at the famed Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1960’s, then went on to work as a public school teacher for 28 years in Texas, Iowa, Morocco, and Virgina. She and her husband raised two boys, who have gifted her with grandchildren (and great-grandchildren).

While all of Judith’s years were full of adventure, the time that inspired her debut memoir (A Lot of World to See) was 1964, when she traveled around the world and ended up in Paris with two women who became lifelong friends. Her days spent gazing at the river Seine inspired Judith to write her passionate observations on love, life, sex, and scenes of Paris. Unfortunately, those irreplaceable first words were lost on a train to Spain when her notebook slipped to the floor, unnoticed and unrecovered. Luckily, through her sharp memory and keen writer’s sense, she was able to finally write the book at age 80.

Now 82 years old, Judith travels, writes, and engages with the creative community and Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild.

Forever a “Sands Dancing Girl,” Judith begins each morning with a dance to LaVerne Baker’s Jim Dandy to the Rescue.

This coming of age memoir is a chronicle of women’s friendship, adventure, and an original history of the late fifties and early sixties. The journey is told through the voice of a young girl who collects memories of cities, books, manicures, money, and men — all with love and astonishment.
